The resolv.conf man page (Ubuntu and SOlaris 10) indicates that "The domain and search keywords are mutually exclusive. If more than one instance of these keywords is present, the last instance takes precedence."<BR/><BR/>Also if domain or search domain are not present, the system gets the domain name part from hostname IF it contains a 'dot' - everything after the 'dot' is considered the domain name.
